The National Lacrosse League today confirmed that the Georgia Swarm have officially reactivated forward Lyle Thompson as the team prepares for a pivotal rematch with the Toronto Rock on Friday night.

Hours before the teams met in Hamilton last week, Thompson, who did take part in Georgia’s pre-game shootaround, was moved to the Swarm’s injured-reserve list.

Even with Thompson sidelined, the Swarm dominated the Rock for much of the game, beating Toronto 10-6 and improving their chances of qualifying for this year’s playoffs.

Last week’s win was Georgia’s fourth straight as they continue to create space between themselves and teams like the Philadelphia Wings & Albany FireWolves.

Thompson, who has been in MVP form for most of the 2021/22 season, currently leads the league in goals (39), sits fourth in total points (80), and second in loose balls by a forward (77).

If the Swarm beat the Rock again, and the Halifax Thunderbirds drop their fifth straight result when they host the last-place Rochester Knighthawks on Friday night, Georgia would find themselves in second place in the East Division (based on winning %) behind only the NLL-leading Buffalo Bandits.
