With less than two weeks before the start of the 2022-23 National Lacrosse League regular season, the Panther City Lacrosse Club have made a pair of moves involving both players & picks.

PCLC sent Jeremy Thompson to the Georgia Swarm for a conditional third-round selection in the 2023 NLL Entry Draft. Thompson will join his brothers Lyle & Miles Thompson in Georgia, where he’ll also likely put a decent dent into the team’s draw totals, freeing up the full-time focus of veteran Jordan MacIntosh elsewhere on the floor.

The team had previously lost Connor Kirst in the Las Vegas Desert Dogs Expansion Draft, the 2022 rookie taking 263 of the Swarm’s 489 regular-season draws a season ago. MacIntosh, one of the league’s most versatile players, had 86 FO attempts.

Sitting at just under 2,000 career face-off wins, Thompson ranks fourth all-time in the category behind Jay Thorimbert, Geoff Snider and Jamie Hanford.

Over the offseason, the Swarm lost four players from last year’s season-ending roster to retirement: Mike Poulin, Jordan Hall, Joel White and Stephan Leblanc.

Jeremy Thompson was named the NLL’s Teammate of the Year last season. Lyle Thompson had won the award the previous three years.

“Over the years I have had the chance to know Jeremy very well on and off the field, said Swarm Owner & GM John Arlotta in today’s trade announcement. “I have admired his playing and leadership, and I am eager for him to bring it to Georgia.”

In Panther City’s other move today, the team acquired Nate Wade from the Calgary Roughnecks in exchange for their fifth-round selection in the 2024 NLL Entry Draft.

Prior to fitting into eleven games in Calgary last year, Wade had played single seasons with both the Philadelphia Wings and Vancouver Warriors.

The new PCLC player was drafted 29th overall in the 2018 NLL Entry Draft.
