NLL Player Rankings: Week 10

After the first full month (four weeks of completed games more specifically) of the 2021/22 National Lacrosse League season were completed, The Lax Mag started publishing weekly updated NLL Player Rankings, examining the league’s Top 30 players from Week 1 until the end of the regular season.

The rankings only take into consideration how a player has performed for this specific season. TLM ranks the top six players from each team for every completed regular season game, utilizing an average star rating system. For a full breakdown of how players are evaluated and more on our scoring system, click here.

NLL Player Ranking Highlights: Week 10

Lyle Thompson still leads, Zach Currier continues to close the game, rookie Reid Bowering slips into the Top 5 and so does Graeme Hossack, our #1 ranked player in our preseason TLM Top 100.

We’ve got three new names in the Top 30 this week: Joe Resetarits (Albany), Austin Shanks (Halifax) and Brad Kri (Toronto). Erased from last week’s leaderboard are Matt Vinc (Buffalo), Adam Bomberry (Albany) and Mitch Jones (Vancouver), whose star-rating score would have still had him Top 5, but we gave him the boot after the Warriors’ star was sidelined for the foreseeable future.

A kind of condensed rundown this week because we’re going stats heavy coming out of Week 10. Why? Due to a distinct differential in games played (Philadelphia has played nine games already, while a club like Calgary just five) reading the leaderboard this year is extremely deceiving. It’ll be like that until regular season schedules even up, which will still seemingly be a bit.

So, before we list this week’s Top 30 (scroll to the bottom of the page for that), here’s a quick recap of a more telling tale of this year’s so-far statistical leaders based on stats/games played (only players who’ve played at least half of their team’s season were included). Take a look at the “real” regular season leaders here and you’ll see several don’t even register in the more realistic statistical regular season review below.
