The Western Lacrosse Association 2024 Draft took place on February 5, the seven-team Senior A league selecting a total of 35 graduating Junior players from across the province.

Marcus Klarich was taken first overall by the Maple Ridge Burrards. Leading the BCJALL in points (114) and assists (64) by a lengthy margin last summer, Klarich is also in the middle of his second NLL season with the Vanouver Warriors.

Traded by the Burnaby Lakers to the Victoria Shamrocks prior to 2023’s trade deadline, Klarich went on to lead the postseason in goals (18) while the Shamrocks ended their summer a series win away from making their third straight Minto Cup appearance.

In addition to his high point-producing pace last year, Klarich was also named the league’s Henry Delmonico Trophy winner (MVP), Bob Reid Memorial Award winner (Outstanding Achievement) and not surprisingly was a BCJALL First Team All Star too.

Prior to the draft, WLA teams also confirmed their territorial protected players.
