Last month the National Lacrosse League confirmed a lengthy list of players that had been deemed ineligible after being selected in the 2022 NLL Entry Draft in Toronto on September 10.

Today the league levied an eleventh ineligible selection ruling to what surely must be the most ever voided picks in a single draft year, the New York Riptide losing out on Ryan Haigh (Mimico Mountaineers/Cleveland State University), who they took 72nd overall.

The selection of Haigh this year broke a By-law II rule, which states, “These players have completed between one and three seasons of NCAA lacrosse and did not renounce their NCAA eligibility. They are not eligible to be signed by any club.”

This is the third pick in this year’s draft the Riptide have had deemed ineligible, both Chris Gray (University of North Carolina) & Sam Handley (University of Pennsylvania) already subtracted from their selections. The team had eight picks total on the day.

Gray, a New York native who the league confirmed as a street free agent after their review, was actually officially signed by the Riptide today.
