The Lax Mag has learned that the Vancouver Warriors have matched the offer sheet extended by the Panther City Lacrosse Club to restricted free agent Kyle Killen yesterday.

It’s believed the deal was matched not long after Panther City’s offer was extended. The transaction is likely to be made official by the league later today. Additional details of the deal are unknown at this time.

Update (Thursday, September 1, 2022, 12pm ET): The Vancouver Warriors confirmed the signing of Killen.

Killen, who finished fifth in the league with 43 goals in 2022, came off easily his most impressive NLL season to date.

Over the past four full seasons (excluding 2020’s cancelled season due to the pandemic), only 16 players have scored 40 goals or more since 2018. They include: Joe Resetarits, Lyle Thompson, Tom Schreiber, Keegan Bal, Curtis Dickson, Connor Robinson, Dhane Smith, Callum Crawford, Dane Dobbie, Mark Matthews, Ben McIntosh, Kevin Crowley, Robert Church, Corey Small, Brett Hickey and Killen.

During last year’s offseason, the Warriors attempted to sign Panther City RFA Anthony Kalinich to a two-year deal, PCLC matching the offer within the required 72-hour window. The teams would later strike a trade weeks later involving Kalinich, Vancouer sending Harrison Smith and a second-round pick in the 2022 NLL Entry Draft for Kalinich and a fourth-round selection during the same draft year.
