Jordan Hall & Joel White officially retire from the NLL
The Georgia Swarm today announced that long-time league vets Jordan Hall & Joel White have officially retired.
The pair were both unrestricted free agents and join former Swarm teammate Mike Poulin as being recently retired. Poulin, now an assistant general manager with the team, retired earlier this offseason.
Georgia further confirmed that Hall will continue with the team in a coaching capacity, the Swarm naming him their new offensive analyst.
The talented trio are not the only NLL stars to hang up their pro pads prior to the start of the 2022/23 regular season, both Scott Campbell (Halifax Thunderbirds) & Scott Carnegie (Colorado Mammoth) doing the same in recent months. Although there has been no official transaction confirming his status, it’s also expected Jeff Shattler will be retiring from the league.
Stephan Leblanc, who ended last year’s season with the Swarm after a pair of mid-season swaps, remains one of the few UFAs still presently available. Other NLL UFAs include: Jeremy Noble, Scott Johnston, Jon Harnett, Even Kirk, Jordan McBride, and the likely to retire Shattler.
Hall, a former first overall draft pick, played 14 seasons in the NLL, four of which were done in a Swarm sweater. Although never nominated for the league’s Transition Player of the Year, Hall was one of the more versatile players during the NLL’s modern era, quite often found near the top of the league’s points & loose-balls stats columns. He ended his career with 813 points & 1,066 LBs.
Taken 10th overall in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, White was regularly considered one of the top American-born players in the league during his entire nine-year career, spending his final five seasons with the Swarm. The defenseman’s 2016 season with the team was arguably White’s best during an almost decade in the league, his 16 points, 143 loose balls and 32 caused turnovers usually a lock for TPOTY consideration.
Both Hall & White were integral players during the Swarm’s recent Cup-winning campaign. “Without a doubt, the trades we made for both Joel & Jordan provided the performance and character we needed to get us over the top and win the 2017 NLL Champion’s Cup,” said Swarm Owner & GM John Arlotta in today’s double retirement announcement. “We would not have won that championship without their talent and leadership.”
The Swarm, who missed qualifying for last year’s playoffs, have lost a number of other players either through trade or free agency, but did add forward Andrew Kew and will have highly touted rookie Ryan Lanchbury in their lineup this winter.
